Job Description

Our client's Software Engineering organization is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Architect to contribute significantly to the technical vision and drive architectural excellence for their modern technology ecosystem.

As a key contributor operating with substantial autonomy, you will be instrumental in designing, guiding, and influencing the development of robust, scalable, and innovative software solutions built primarily on Microsoft Azure. This role demands strong technical expertise in cloud-native architecture, full-stack development (especially .NET and React), and a passion for tackling complex challenges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategic Architectural Contribution: Help drive the software architecture strategy and technical roadmap for both user-facing and internal platforms, with a focus on Azure PaaS and cloud-native design patterns.
• Design & Implementation Guidance: Lead architecture reviews, design spikes, proofs-of-concept, and technical design discussions. Promote reference implementations and best practices in C#/.NET 8+, TypeScript/React, microservices, event-driven architecture (EDA), Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and API design (REST/GraphQL).
• Technical Excellence & Innovation: Introduce and champion new architectural approaches. Evaluate emerging technologies, contribute to build-versus-buy decisions, and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Collaboration & Influence: Partner with product owners, engineering leads, DevOps, security, infrastructure, and other teams to ensure scalable designs and cross-team architectural alignment.
• Mentorship & Culture: Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, support the development of senior engineers, and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
• Modernization & Integration: Lead modernization of legacy systems and development of secure, scalable third-party integrations.
• Governance & Best Practices: Promote secure-by-design principles, CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and observability best practices.
• Execution & Problem Solving: Own key architectural initiatives, navigate complex technical challenges, and support resolution of production issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR ABILITIES:

• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure (App Service, Functions, Container Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, API Management, Cosmos DB, etc.)
• Proficiency in C# and .NET 8+ (Core), with experience in asynchronous programming and modern architectural patterns
• Proficiency in frontend development with React and TypeScript
• Deep experience with microservices, DDD, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event-driven systems
• Familiarity with DevOps tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Git, and IaC tools (Bicep, Terraform)
• Understanding of observability tools (Azure Monitor, App Insights, KQL)
• Strong grasp of secure coding, OAuth/OpenID Connect, encryption, and FinTech compliance standards
• Effective communication and leadership skills with experience in Agile/Scrum or SAFe

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field; Master’s preferred
• 5–10 years of software engineering and architecture experience
• Demonstrated experience in technical leadership and mentoring
• Experience in FinTech or financial services is a plus
• Contributions to documentation, knowledge sharing, or tech community engagement are advantageous

CERTIFICATIONS:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (highly desired)
• Other helpful certifications: TOGAF 9/10, CKA, SAFe Architect, AZ-400, etc.
