At Plan Group, we work on landmark projects that push the boundaries of whats possible, as the Technology contractor we are expanding our team and seeking a driven OSP Splicer to work on-site in Vancouver, BC. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to acquire hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, working alongside a talented team on a significant project. We are looking for an OSP Splicer with these core competencies to join our team: Prep and fusion splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cables including loose tube and ribbon cable. Prep and install both aerial and underground splice enclosures along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables. Perform bi-directional OTDR testing, along with power meter testing. Installation and dressing of fiber optic cables. Ability to read prints and comprehend splice instructions. Attention to detail and accuracy. Requires significant time doing manual labor tasks and sometimes working in tight spaces. Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g. from ladders, Aerial lift trucks). Working knowledge of hand and power tools. Ability to perform physical activities including but not limited to lifting objects weighing over 50 pounds. Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e.g. cold and/or heat, inclement weather). Wear appropriate safety apparel and follow all established safety practices and procedures. Be adaptable to industrial work site settings for daily safety requirements. Ability to work respectfully with others and to work independently. Additional Requirements: Must be able to travel for extended periods of time and work flexible hours with the understanding that workdays can be in excess of normal hours and some weekend work may be required. Must be able to pass Fit for duty, Drug and Alcohol testing. Compensation and Benefits: Competitive compensation based on experience and skill level.
