The Role
Reporting to the Head of Design (Bunkhouse & JdV), the Director of New Projects is responsible for assisting the VP of Design on planning and coordinating project activities. This includes managing project management of all new builds and hotel conversions, and the primary point of contact for all external consultants.
The person in this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of company policies. Furthermore, all Design team members must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.
Responsibilities will include:
· Assisting the Head of Design, JDV and Bunkhouse on planning and coordinating project activities
· Responsible for the project management of all new builds and hotel conversions - including oversight of PMs for overall execution, project timelines, budgets and Bunkhouse quality standards
· Functions as the primary point of contact for all external consultants and stakeholders to make sure that project goals are understood and being executed.
· Leads transition from construction to internal operations teams, ensuring that all milestones and systems are implemented to ensure on time project delivery
· Throughout project lifecycle, maintain current project documentation, including contracts, project plans, schedules, cost reports and progress reports
· Generate regular reports on project status, key milestones, and financial updates for internal stakeholders
· Manages the selection and execution of all design consultants - architects, engineers, interior designers, and all other external consultants
o Train and Assist Project Managers in managing relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, architects, designers, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
· Monitor project budgets and expenses, tracking costs, and maintaining financial records.
· Manage the review and approval of invoices and payment requests.
· Coordinate project activities, including meetings, site visits, and inspections.
· Leads internal pre-opening efforts to make sure that all internal departments are aligned in budget and schedule to meet opening dates
· Train and Assist in Project Manager in maintaining project schedules, tracking progress, and ensuring adherence to timelines.
· Supporting quality control efforts by assisting in monitoring construction progress
· Monitor potential construction related issues and assist in resolving project-related challenges.
· Continuously staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to hotel development.
· Follows direction and task assigned by Head of Design, JDV and Bunkhouse.
Qualifications & Experience Required
·8+ years’ project management experience.
· Bachelor’s Degree in related fields of design, construction or real estate development.
· Outstanding communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Multilingual Preferred.
· Should be proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to contribute to the successful completion of hotel development projects.
