Summary Western Dairyland E.O.C. Inc. Head Start program is hiring a Center Manager at the Blair Head Start Center. Located in the Blair Elementary School, we promote school readiness of children under the age of five to income-eligible families. Using the whole-child approach, Western Dairyland Head Start engages parents as partners with their child's teacher to support their growth and development from early math and reading skills to confidence and resilience.
The Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the center and supervision of staff. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a closely related field with a DPI-issued teacher's license. The new hire will receive ongoing training and support as part of the onboarding process. This is a full-time, school-year position with summers off. The position is unemployment eligible during layoff time.
Duties - Plan program development and interagency cooperation with the Education Manager
- Supervision and oversight of daily operations, attendance matters, oversight of education, nutrition, and health services programming
- Plan lessons for assigned classrooms
- Responsible for planning and preparing materials for daily activities with children individually and in designated groups
- Oversight of curriculum and planning of the yearly calendar with the Education Manager and other staff
- Conduct and oversee ongoing assessments to evaluate each child?s developmental level and progress in outcomes aligned to the school readiness goals
- Conduct at least two home visits per program year for each family to engage the parents in the child?s learning and development
- Recommend and process requests for the purchase of equipment and supplies
- Recruitment of eligible families in coordination with Parent and Community Manager
- Develop and facilitate child, parent, family, and community engagements activities
- Maintain equipment, space, vehicles, and materials in good working condition
- Provide orientation to parents, staff, and children
- Coordinate tiered staffing with the appropriate staff for each child and family
- Coordinate with ERSEA Manager to recruit eligible families and maintain enrollment lists to determined according to Head Start Performance Standards? eligibility guidelines
- Complete developmental screenings, review results and communicate to Education Manager and needed referrals or monitoring
- Record and oversee ongoing observations and assessments in child portfolios and assess progress three times per year
- Implement positive guidance and model appropriate practice
- Attend IEP meetings and ensure IEP goals are reviewed and implemented in weekly planning
- Provide training to volunteers, if applicable
- Provide information on class activities and parent meetings and through handouts and newsletters.
- Maintain up to date enrollment lists and attendance records
- Assure that progress reports, daily health, safety checklists, lesson plans, screening assessment. And other required documentation is kept current and on file or posted as applicable
- Maintain resource and inventory records, if applicable
- Maintain attendance records on each child
- Maintain children?s portfolios, work samples, file, and medical logs
- Maintain necessary Child Plus documentation for children and families
- Maintain current DPI license
- Knowledge of state and federal Head Start regulations; Child Care Licensing Rules; Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework; Head Start Parent, Family, and Community Engagement; and Developmentally Appropriate Practices
- Demonstrate understanding of Head Start philosophy and Western Dairyland Head Start?s core values
- Demonstrate sensitivity to culture and family backgrounds
- Comply with Policies and Procedures and Standards of Conducts
- Maintain confidentiality
- Complete individual needs assessment and develop professional development goals annually
- Complete a minimum of 25 hours of professional development per year

Requirements Education Requirements: - Bachelor?s degree in early childhood or closely related degree
- Current Wisconsin DPI licensure and/or Registry Certificate required
- Experience in direct supervision of staff/volunteers
- Experience teaching in the field of Early Childhood and work with families related to the Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework Model
Licenses, Certifications, Authorizations Required: - Must hold a current Wisconsin DPI License and/or Registry Certificate
- Must have a valid driver?s license
- Must have an insured vehicle
- Must meet Western DairyLand?s insurability requirements
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
